WADA officials praise Kenya ahead of 2027 code changes

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) officials have commended Kenya’s anti-doping efforts following a visit this week, as preparations begin for the 2027 Anti-Doping Code reforms. The assessment took place in Nairobi, focusing on compliance, education and testing systems.

WADA representatives said Kenya has made “clear progress” in strengthening controls and governance. “We are encouraged by the commitment shown,” a WADA official noted, adding that continued cooperation will be key ahead of the new code.

Kenya’s Anti-Doping Agency welcomed the feedback, saying the country is “aligned with global standards.” A senior athletics official added that “protecting clean sport remains the priority.”

The visit comes as WADA consults stakeholders worldwide to shape reforms aimed at tougher enforcement and greater athlete education.
