Vara, Ngecu clinch Windsor crowns after playoff drama

Aarush Vara and Bianca Ngecu topped the leaderboard at Windsor Golf Club in Nairobi on Monday, winning the Boys 15–18 and Girls 15–18 titles as the 2025 NCBA Kenya Invitational Junior Golf Tournament ended with two tense playoffs.
Vara closed with a level-par final round to seal his crown, while Ngecu matched that calm finish and signed off her three-day run with a level-par total for the girls’ top prize. Earlier, Zara Mutungi edged Tanvil Shah in a three-hole playoff in the Girls 8-and-under category, and Justin Ngeera beat Dominykas Petkevicius on the 19th hole in Boys 13–14.
Junior Golf Foundation president Vincent Mukiri said the event showed “resilience under pressure and respect for the game,” while Kenya Golf Union chair Chris Kinuthia called it a “fitting way to close the national golf calendar.” Golf Kenya president Philip Ochola added the tournament “reflects the growth” seen across the sport in 2025.
