Thika Stadium works begin on KSh850m plan

Construction of the new Thika Stadium has officially begun this week after the Kenyan government unveiled timelines for the KSh850 million project aimed at boosting sports infrastructure in Kiambu County.
Groundbreaking works started on Monday, with authorities outlining a phased plan that will see the modern facility completed within the stipulated period. The stadium is expected to host football matches and other major sporting events once finished.
“This project will transform sports in the region,” a government official said at the launch. A local football administrator added: “Thika has waited long for a venue of this standard.”
According to planners, the upgraded complex will include improved seating, training areas and essential amenities, as officials push to expand access to quality facilities and nurture emerging talent.
