Talanta Stadium terraces painted as AFCON 2027 nears

Painting of the terraces has begun at Talanta Sports City Stadium in Nairobi as construction enters its final phase ahead of the planned March 2026 completion and its role in hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Workers have started covering the once-gray concrete stands with vibrant colours designed to reflect Kenya’s national identity and improve the stadium’s broadcast atmosphere. The three-tier seating bowl, inspired by modern European arenas, is expected to create a “full-house” visual effect even when attendance is not at capacity.
“The colours will bring energy to the stadium and to the fans watching worldwide,” a project engineer told local media.
Crews are applying weather-resistant coatings built to handle Nairobi’s intense sun and seasonal rains, while also marking safety routes and aisle numbers required by FIFA and CAF standards.
“The goal is a world-class venue ready for AFCON,” a construction supervisor said, as installation of thousands of seats continues across the steep bowl designed to guarantee clear views from every section.
