Talanta pitch upgrade intensifies before AFCON 2027

Work on the Talanta Stadium pitch in Nairobi has accelerated as Kenya races to satisfy CAF standards ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, despite mounting concerns over deadlines.

Crews have stepped up drainage installation and surface leveling to fast-track completion before inspections. The venue is key to Kenya’s hosting plans.

“We are committed to meeting all CAF requirements on time,” a government official said. A project engineer admitted earlier delays but added, “The revised schedule is designed to recover lost ground.”

CAF is expected to assess progress in the coming months, with Kenya’s AFCON ambitions hanging in the balance.
