Sawe Runs 1:59:30 in London — and Kipchoge Says “No Human Is Limited”

It finally happened. The sub-two-hour marathon is official.
Sabastian Sawe crossed the London Marathon finish line on Sunday in 1:59:30 — the first sub-two-hour performance in an official World Athletics record-eligible race. Yomif Kejelcha was second in 1:59:41. Jacob Kiplimo third in 2:00:28. Three men under or within striking distance of the barrier that once seemed impossible.
“I am so happy. It is a day to remember for me,” Sawe said. He credited the crowd: “They help a lot. You feel so happy and strong.”
Eliud Kipchoge — who came agonisingly close himself — responded with the words everyone expected: “My deepest congratulations to Sebastian and Yomif. This is historical for marathon running.” Then, as always, those four words: “No Human Is Limited.”
The sport just changed forever.
