Rooney Onyango cleared to play after ban lifted

Gor Mahia defender Rooney Onyango has been cleared to return to action after Kenya’s Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) lifted his suspension earlier this week.

The ruling follows an appeal challenging the disciplinary action that had kept the Kenyan international out of competitive matches. With the ban overturned, Onyango is now eligible to feature again for club and country.

The defender welcomed the decision after weeks of uncertainty. “I’m happy the truth has come out,” Onyango said. “Now my focus is on getting back on the pitch and helping my team.”

A Gor Mahia official also praised the ruling. “Rooney is an important player for us,” he said. “We are pleased he can return and continue contributing to the squad.”

The decision brings relief to both the player and his club as the season enters a crucial stage.
