Ouma Faces Raków Future Doubt After Nine-Month Achilles Layoff

Eric Ouma is nearly back. But what awaits the Harambee Stars left-back at Raków Częstochowa remains anyone’s guess.
The 29-year-old has spent nine months sidelined after rupturing his Achilles tendon in training on August 28, 2025 — a brutal injury that wiped out his entire 2025/2026 season with the Polish champions. He has been rehabilitating in Nairobi, with return-to-play assessments due this week before a gradual reintegration into team training.
The football side is almost settled. The future is not.
“The future is now unpredictable because I have been injured, and I’m going to start from zero,” Ouma said. He puts the likelihood of staying in Poland at 90 to 100 percent — but only if Raków want him. If they don’t, he’ll move.
It is a vulnerable position for a player who had built real momentum before the setback. Ouma made 47 appearances for Raków after joining from Swedish side AIK in 2024, registering 1 goal and 6 assists. He previously starred for Gor Mahia.
The Achilles has healed. What the next chapter looks like — in Poland or elsewhere — Ouma admits he cannot say. And that uncertainty, he has learned, is part of the game. “There is life outside football,” he said.
