Osimhen leads Super Eagles support for Boniface after surgery

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have closed ranks around Victor Boniface after the striker successfully underwent surgery on January 11, with star forward Victor Osimhen spearheading messages of support as preparations continue for the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Boniface went under the knife to address a long-standing injury that ruled him out of recent international action, temporarily halting a season in which he had already made a strong impact at club level. The forward confirmed the operation went well and has begun his recovery programme. “The surgery was successful. I’ll be back stronger,” Boniface said.

Osimhen quickly responded, urging unity and patience. “Stay positive, brother. We are with you all the way,” the Napoli striker wrote, underlining the togetherness within the squad.

Head coach Eric Chelle also backed the injured striker, saying: “Boniface has the right mentality. His focus on recovery motivates the team.”

With AFCON approaching, Nigeria hope Boniface’s smooth rehabilitation will boost their attacking options and strengthen their push for continental success.
