Onyedika Injured on His Birthday as Club Brugge Suffer Title Blow

Raphael Onyedika had a birthday to forget.

The Super Eagles midfielder turned 25 on Sunday — and spent it limping off the pitch in the 68th minute of Club Brugge’s 2-1 defeat to title rivals Royale Union SG. The nature of the injury is not yet known, but the timing couldn’t be worse.

Brugge now sit four points behind Union with seven games remaining. One of those is a direct rematch against the same opponents — a game Onyedika may not be fit for.

If he misses the run-in, Brugge’s title hopes take a serious hit. And for Nigeria’s midfield, it’s another injury concern at exactly the wrong time.
