Omanyala Targets Sub-10 at Shanghai Diamond League as Season Builds Momentum

Ferdinand Omanyala is heading to Shanghai and he’s in form.
Africa’s fastest man lines up at the Diamond League on May 16 for his first Diamond League race of the season — and based on recent times, a sub-10 is very much on the cards. He ran 9.96 at the Kip Keino Classic, then 9.95 in Botswana. The trajectory is pointing the right way.
The field will test him. Christian Coleman, Kenny Bednarek, and Trayvon Bromell are all in it. So are South Africans Akani Simbine and Gift Leotlela, and Botswana’s Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo. Xie Zhenye brings home-crowd energy to the mix.
Omanyala has been through this before — big fields, big names, big noise. He ran sub-10 in Addis Ababa for the first time in over a year. The momentum is real. Shanghai is the next step.
