Omanyala Sets Terms Before Potential IShowSpeed Race in Kenya

Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man and Commonwealth Games 100m champion, has outlined clear professional conditions before considering a sprint race against American YouTuber IShowSpeed during the streamer’s visit to Kenya this month.

The 100m record-holder stressed on January 13, 2026 that any race won’t be a casual challenge but a professional event, and he’s not doing it for free — “I’m not an influencer,” he noted while explaining his stance. Omanyala said he operates with a support team and expects seriousness from anyone looking to line up against him.

“I mean, he has a team, I have a team…as long as there is money, we are not doing it for free,” Omanyala said, indicating a minimum demand of USD 50,000 (about KSh 6.4 million) for the showdown.

The Kenyan sprinter has also playfully claimed on social media that he’d “whoop him by the third step,” fueling fan excitement around the potential head-to-head with the viral streamer.

While a formal race isn’t confirmed, Omanyala’s remarks make it clear he’s prioritising professionalism over a casual sprint challenge with the global entertainment personality.
