Omanyala reveals millions earned from race appearances

African 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala has revealed that elite sprinters can earn millions through appearance fees at international track events, while urging fellow athletes to manage their careers wisely.

Speaking this week, the Kenyan star explained that top competitions often pay athletes simply to compete, with the amounts depending on performance level and global ranking.

“Appearance fees are part of the sport at the highest level,” Omanyala said. “But athletes must stay disciplined and keep improving.”

He also warned younger competitors not to rely solely on prize money, stressing the importance of consistent performances to maintain invitations to major meets.

Omanyala, one of Africa’s fastest men, has built a strong reputation on the global stage, regularly competing in top events across Europe and the United States.
