Odhiambo: Harambee Stars Also Unhappy With Third-Place Finish

Kenya midfielder Austin Odhiambo addressed fans on Monday after Harambee Stars finished third in the FIFA Series, saying players share the frustration — and fans are right to feel it.
Kenya beat Grenada 3-0 to claim bronze but fell at the first hurdle, drawing 1-1 with Estonia before losing 5-4 on penalties. Odhiambo scored in the Grenada game.
“It’s okay not to be happy because they are used to winning, and we players are also not happy with the third position,” he said. “It’s normal in football, and they have the right to be angry.”
He pushed back on any suggestion the win over Grenada meant little. “We knew that we needed to work as a team. This was a very important game for us,” Odhiambo said.
He stayed optimistic about the bigger picture. “Everyone is getting involved, and we are trying to blend. I’m sure in the future we shall have a formidable national team,” he added.
