Odemba Puts Finger on Kenya’s Problem: Chances Are There. The Goals Aren’t.

Beldine Odemba knows exactly what the problem is. Kenya are creating. They are just not scoring.

The Harambee Starlets coach pointed to finishing as the single biggest thing her squad must fix before WAFCON 2026 kicks off in Morocco on July 25. Against Australia in the FIFA Series final, Kenya created clear chances and lost 2-0. The patterns are there. The goals are not.

“We get a lot of chances and now we really need to work on capitalising on them,” Odemba said. “One chance, one goal is what we are looking for.”

It is a simple demand. Executing it is harder. Kenya face Morocco, Algeria and Senegal in Group A — three sides that will punish you for every miss. The margin for error is zero.

Odemba is not hitting the panic button. Squad changes are unlikely unless injuries force her hand. But the finishing? That has to improve. Quickly.
