Njoki returns to test Ngetich at Sirikwa Classic

Kenyan-born Qatari athlete Nancy Jelagat Njoki is set to reignite rivalries at the 2026 Sirikwa Classic Cross Country in Eldoret this February, lining up against world star Agnes Ngetich in a high-stakes early-season clash.

The World Cross Country Tour Gold meeting will see Njoki compete on familiar Kenyan soil, now representing Qatar, as she measures her progress against one of the sport’s most explosive distance runners. Ngetich, fresh from record-breaking road performances, headlines a stacked field expected to light up the Lobo Village course.

“I’m coming to compete and give my best,” Njoki said ahead of the race. Ngetich responded, “Strong fields make strong races.” An Athletics Kenya official promised “a spectacle worthy of global attention.”

With pride and ranking points on the line, the Sirikwa Classic is shaping up as a fierce cross-country showdown.
