Nigeria outclass Algeria 2–0 to seal AFCON semi-final spot

Nigeria powered into the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with a commanding 2–0 win over Algeria on January 10 in Marrakech, producing a sharp second-half display to set up a meeting with hosts Morocco.
The Super Eagles broke the deadlock moments after the restart when Victor Osimhen headed in from close range, punishing a rare defensive lapse. Akor Adams doubled the advantage soon after, calmly finishing after being played through by Osimhen as Nigeria tightened their grip on the game.
Algeria struggled to respond, creating little in attack as Nigeria’s intensity and physical edge told. “We controlled the match and deserved the result,” Nigeria coach Eric Chelle said. Osimhen added that the team “played with belief and discipline from the first minute.”
Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic admitted his side fell short, saying: “Nigeria were stronger and more organised. We couldn’t find solutions.”
Nigeria, eager to turn recent setbacks into success, now move within one win of the AFCON final.
