Motsepe Sets Morocco Standard for Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania at AFCON 2027

The bar has been set. And it is high.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe has told Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania exactly what is expected of them for AFCON 2027 — Morocco-level excellence. The 2025 edition in Morocco generated over $112 million in profit, attracted 23 sponsors, and racked up 6 billion digital views. Record numbers across the board.

“Morocco has raised the standard,” Motsepe said. “The next AFCON — you have a high standard to come up to and to maintain.”

Motsepe is backing the East African hosts with more than words. He led CAF’s executive committee to Tanzania after the 2025 tournament, and has a full team stationed in the region to support preparations. He is also due in Kenya on May 12 for a heads of state meeting and infrastructure assessment.

“You reap what you sow,” he added. The message to the three co-hosts is clear.
