Mokwena denies arrest rumours after MC Alger exit

Rulani Mokwena dismissed arrest rumours on March 18 after leaving MC Alger, clarifying the situation following widespread speculation about his sudden departure from the Algerian club.
The South African coach addressed the claims directly, stating that reports of legal trouble were false and linked to misinformation circulating online after his exit. Mokwena had recently parted ways with MC Alger amid unclear circumstances, fueling rumors about his status in Algeria.
“I was never arrested. That is completely untrue,” Mokwena said in a media interview. “People created a story that has no basis in fact.”
He added that his departure was professional, not disciplinary: “I left the club through the right process. There was nothing criminal or controversial involved.”
A source close to the club also downplayed the situation, saying, “There was confusion, but no incident involving authorities.”
Mokwena’s clarification ends days of speculation, with the coach now expected to focus on his next career move after a brief stint in North African football.
