Liverpool and Barcelona Could Meet in Kenya Friendly This August

Kenya might be hosting one of the biggest pre-season matches in football history. Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a friendly in Nairobi on August 8, 2026 — with Talanta Stadium the potential venue.

Spanish outlet Sport broke the story. Barcelona are planning a 15-day training camp in England before potentially travelling to Kenya or Morocco for additional warm-up fixtures. Liverpool, meanwhile, already have a confirmed U.S. tour lined up featuring Sunderland, Wrexham, and Leeds United.

The two clubs last met in a competitive setting at the 2019 Champions League semi-final, where Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield.

There are complications. The World Cup wraps up July 19 — and up to 11 Liverpool players could deep into the tournament. Player availability is a real question.

Nothing is confirmed. But the possibility alone is massive news for Kenyan football.
