Lilian Odira Targets Diamond League Crown After World Championship Glory

Lilian Odira has already won the world title. Now she wants the Diamond League too.

The Kenyan 800m world champion — who claimed gold in Tokyo last September — is setting her sights on a full sweep of the 2026 season. She’s already defending her Kip Keino Classic crown at Nyayo Stadium this week. Then comes a Diamond League rematch in Eugene on July 4 against Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson and Georgia Hunter Bell — the same athletes she beat in Tokyo.

Odira is ranked fourth in the world and is yet to win a Diamond League title. This season looks like her best chance. The schedule sets up perfectly — Kip Keino first, Eugene next, then the full Diamond League circuit stretching into the summer.

World champion. Now she wants everything else.
