Kipchoge shuts down “too hard” training claims

Eliud Kipchoge has pushed back at suggestions he is overworking in training, saying his routine is “controlled, deliberate and built around recovery” as he maps out his next racing targets. The Kenyan marathon icon insisted this week that his workload is not about reckless intensity, but smart consistency.

“Training is not about suffering blindly,” Kipchoge said. “It’s about listening to the body and improving step by step.” He added that outside opinions won’t change his approach: “People will always talk, but I know what works for me.”

A member of his camp described the programme as “carefully planned and monitored every day,” while an athletics analyst noted that Kipchoge “still sets the benchmark for professionalism, even as the spotlight grows louder.”

Kipchoge’s message was clear: the process remains the priority — and the noise stays in the background.
