Kenya’s Relay Battalion Storms Gaborone Chasing World Relays Glory

Thirty athletes. Five relay teams. One goal.
Kenya has arrived in Gaborone for the World Athletics Relays Gaborone 26, which takes place on May 2-3 at the Botswana National Stadium. The squad includes 4x100m and 4x400m mixed relays, men’s and women’s 4x400m teams, and a men’s 4x100m squad anchored by Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala.
The stakes are high. The top six teams in the mixed 4x100m and 4x400m earn direct qualification to the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest. The top 12 qualify for the World Championships in Beijing next year.
Kenya’s relay record at major championships has been inconsistent — strong in the 4x400m, developing in the sprints. Gaborone is a chance to stamp authority and lock in spots that matter. Omanyala and Millicent Ndoro lead the charge.
