Kenyan runner loses KSh32m after missed protest

A Kenyan runner has lost a potential KSh32 million payout at the Los Angeles Marathon after failing to file an official protest following alleged fan interference during the race.
The disruption reportedly occurred along the course when a spectator obstructed the athlete, affecting his run. However, race officials said the result could not be reviewed because no formal complaint was submitted within the required timeframe.
“Incidents like this must be reported immediately for the jury to examine them,” a race official said.
With no protest filed, the race result remained unchanged, costing the runner a chance to challenge the outcome and claim the major prize.
