Kenyan refs handed key AFCON Group B duties
Kenyan match officials have landed major assignments at AFCON Morocco 2025 on Friday, December 26, with Dr Peter Waweru Kamaku set to referee Angola vs Zimbabwe in Marrakech and Engineer Dickens Mimisa appointed VAR for Egypt vs South Africa in Agadir.
“Dr Kamaku will be assisted by fellow Kenyans Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot… and Stephen Eleazar Onyango Yiembe… underlining CAF’s confidence in Kenyan match officials,” the report noted.
CAF has also kept continuity in Angola’s fixtures, with Kamaku and Yiembe again involved after the Palancas Negras’ opener, a sign that performance is being rewarded.
The appointments come with pressure dialled up in Group B, where Angola and Zimbabwe are chasing first points, while Egypt and South Africa meet with momentum and table position on the line.
