Kenya to reshuffle AFCON 2027 organising committee

Kenya’s government plans to overhaul its Local Organising Committee for AFCON 2027 to speed up preparations, officials confirmed in Nairobi.

The move follows concerns over slow progress on key projects, including stadium upgrades and logistics. Authorities want a smaller, more efficient team to meet CAF requirements ahead of the tournament, which Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.

A senior official said, “We need a structure that delivers quickly and meets standards,” while Sports CS Ababu Namwamba added, “This is a national duty we must get right.”

The planned changes aim to inject urgency as deadlines approach for the continental showpiece.
