Kenya drawn against Morocco, Algeria, Senegal at WAFCON

Kenya’s women’s national team has been handed a daunting group at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Harambee Starlets will face hosts Morocco, former champions Algeria and Senegal. The draw was confirmed this week ahead of the tournament scheduled to take place in Morocco.

Kenya return to the continental stage aiming to improve on past campaigns after missing the last edition. Head coach Beldine Odemba said the group presents “a tough but exciting test,” adding that playing top sides will show “how far the team has grown.”

Morocco, backed by home support, are expected to be strong contenders, while Algeria bring experience after reaching the quarter-finals in the previous tournament. Senegal coach Mame Moussa Cissé noted that “every match in this group will be decisive.”

Football Kenya Federation officials believe the draw offers valuable exposure, saying the Starlets must be “fearless and disciplined” to compete with Africa’s elite.
