Kenya Can Host AFCON 2027 Alone If Needed, Says LOC Chief Musonye

Nicholas Musonye is not worried. The AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee chairman has pushed back firmly against doubts over East Africa’s readiness — insisting Kenya could host the tournament independently if it came to that.
“We have one year and a few months. We are prepared, and with the President on our side, we are going to host AFCON 2027,” Musonye said. “Even on our own, we can host AFCON.”
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are joint hosts for the 2027 edition. Musonye pointed to Nyayo Stadium, Kasarani Stadium and the new Talanta Stadium in Nairobi, plus facilities in Eldoret, as evidence of sufficient infrastructure. He also noted that CAF assigned the 2024 CHAN tournament to the three nations specifically as a capacity test — and they passed.
The government is behind it. The venues exist. Musonye says the rest is noise.
