Kasarani and Talanta Stadiums to Be Ready by July for AFCON 2027

Kenya has put dates on the two stadiums it needs ready for AFCON 2027. Sports PS Elijah Mwangi confirmed on Tuesday that Talanta Stadium’s main structure should be done by the end of June, while Kasarani is targeting July for its pitch renovation. CAF is due to carry out an inspection in August.
Talanta — officially the Raila Odinga International Stadium — is at 88% composite completion. Work is still ongoing around road access, railway connections, and supporting facilities, but the shell of the stadium itself is on track. Kasarani’s playing surface is currently being torn up and relaid.
“By the end of June, we are supposed to be ready with the stadium itself,” Mwangi said of Talanta. CAF Head of Safety and Security Dr. Christian Emeruwa was present at the update alongside FKF President Hussein Mohammed and LOC Chairperson Nicholas Musonye.
Kenya co-hosts the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania. The August inspection will give CAF a clearer picture of whether the work is actually going to plan.
