Kamworor, Yeshaneh Headline RAK Half Marathon

Three-time New York City Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor will lead the elite field at the 19th Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon on Saturday, February 14, in the UAE, as the world’s fastest half marathon course prepares for another record chase.

The Kenyan star, a three-time world cross country champion, returns to the race he won in 2013 aiming to dominate the flat 21.1km route once again. Kamworor arrives as the fastest man on the 2026 start list with a personal best of 58:01. “RAK is a special place for me,” he said ahead of the race. “It’s a course built for fast times.”

In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Ababel Yeshaneh, who set a then-world record of 1:04:31 on this course, is targeting a comeback victory after finishing second in 2024. “I know what I can do here,” she noted. “My focus is on winning.”

Organizers have promised one of the strongest fields in the event’s history, setting up a fierce Kenya–Ethiopia duel on Valentine’s Day.
