Harambee Stars Keeper Otieno Under Fire After Shaky Richards Bay Display

Ian Otieno had a night to forget. The Harambee Stars goalkeeper was heavily criticised after a jittery performance for Richards Bay in their 2-2 draw against Orlando Pirates on Friday.

Otieno fumbled multiple times, struggled to command his box and looked uncertain on corners. In the 52nd minute, he failed to close down the shooting angle as Oswin Appollis equalised for Pirates. Then, in the 89th minute, he dropped a long-range shot — an error that angered his own teammates and ultimately cost Richards Bay two crucial points when they were on the brink of a famous upset.

He was also booked for time-wasting. A yellow card to cap a difficult evening.

Richards Bay had led twice. They ended up with a draw that felt like a defeat.
