Harambee Starlets recall duo for WAFCON 2026 qualifiers

Harambee Starlets coach on Wednesday named his squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, recalling two experienced players to strengthen Kenya’s campaign as the team prepares for next month’s decisive fixtures.
The returning duo headline a balanced squad blending youth and experience, with the coach opting for continuity after recent friendly matches. Kenya will begin their qualification journey later this month, targeting a return to the continental finals.
“We have brought back experience to guide the younger players,” the coach said. “These matches require maturity and leadership.”
One of the recalled players welcomed the call-up, saying, “It’s an honour to represent Kenya again. We know what is at stake and we are ready to fight.”
A senior federation official added that the team’s preparation camp will focus on tactical discipline and fitness, noting, “Qualification is our priority and we believe this group can deliver.”
Kenya last featured at WAFCON in 2016 and are aiming to end a decade-long absence from Africa’s biggest women’s football stage.
