George Confirms Super Eagles Eligibility Through Nigerian Roots

Chelsea loanee Tyrique George has confirmed he is eligible to represent Nigeria, revealing his Nigerian heritage during an interview on Tuesday, February 4, amid growing interest in his international future. The winger, currently gaining experience away from Stamford Bridge, said his background opens the door to playing for the Super Eagles.

“My dad is Nigerian, so I’m eligible to play for Nigeria,” George said. “It’s something I’m proud of and definitely an option for my future.”

The 19-year-old, who has impressed with his pace and attacking output this season, added that international football remains a long-term goal. “Right now I’m focused on improving my game,” he explained. “But representing a country like Nigeria would be special.”

A source close to the Nigerian setup welcomed the news, saying, “Tyrique is a talented player. Nigeria is always open to players who can add quality.”

George’s confirmation adds another name to Nigeria’s expanding pool of Europe-based prospects as the Super Eagles plan for upcoming competitions.
