Five Things East Africa Must Deliver After the Kampala AFCON 2027 Summit

The CAF delegation has been. The meetings have happened. Now the real work begins.
Here’s what came out of Kampala this week. Stadiums must be ready for inspection by August 2026 — the point of no return for infrastructure. All three nations committed to meeting CAF requirements on time, covering not just venues but medical networks, transport, hotels, tourism, and security.
A PAMOJA Oversight Council has been formed — bringing together CAF reps, host ministers, football association presidents, and local organising chairs — to keep decisions coordinated across three countries. The PAMOJA Visa Framework, designed to make cross-border travel seamless for fans and officials, is being finalised by the three ministers through regular consultative meetings.
The message from the summit was clear: this tournament is bigger than football. It’s East Africa’s moment to show the world what the region is made of. August starts the clock.
