FIFA restores funding to Kenya Football Federation

FIFA has lifted its funding suspension on the Kenya Football Federation (FKF), clearing the way for financial support to resume this week after governance concerns were addressed. The decision follows months of engagement between world football’s governing body and Kenyan authorities, aimed at stabilising the sport’s administration and allowing football activities to move forward.
The ban had frozen development grants and operational funds, affecting national teams and grassroots programmes. With the restriction removed, FKF will again access FIFA support for competitions, training and infrastructure. “This is a positive step for Kenyan football,” an FKF official said, adding that the focus now is on “restoring normal operations and rebuilding trust.”
FIFA confirmed the move after reviewing compliance measures put in place. “The conditions required have been met,” a FIFA source noted, stressing that oversight will continue. Sports stakeholders in Kenya welcomed the decision, with a local coach saying the funding return “gives players and officials renewed hope.”
The suspension stemmed from governance disputes earlier this year. Its removal marks a fresh start as Kenya looks to reset its football structures and re-energise the game nationwide.
