Faith Kipyegon launches maternal health project in Kenya

Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon has launched a major maternal health initiative in Kenya, aiming to reduce preventable deaths among mothers and newborns. The project, unveiled this week in the Rift Valley, focuses on improving access to quality healthcare, education and medical equipment in underserved communities.
Kipyegon said the move was inspired by personal experiences and alarming national statistics. “No woman should lose her life while giving life,” she said. “This project is about dignity, care and hope.”
Health experts welcomed the initiative, noting that Kenya still records thousands of maternal deaths annually. “Support from global figures like Faith brings attention and real impact,” a local health official said.
The world 1500m record holder added that she hopes to use her platform beyond athletics. “Running gave me a voice,” Kipyegon said. “Now I want that voice to save lives.”
