Dreamer Backs Holliday for WWE While Praising Elijah Ahead of ACW Bout

Tommy Dreamer has voiced his support for independent wrestler Richard Holliday potentially signing with WWE, while praising the abilities of TNA’s Elijah ahead of their scheduled meeting at Awesome Championship Wrestling’s Indypendence Day event in New York.

Holliday, who has built a reputation on the independent circuit under the self-styled billing of “The Most Marketable,” became the subject of WWE signing rumors after trade outlet Fightful Select reported on the possibility earlier this month. Since then, Holliday appeared to mark a symbolic moment in his independent run by leaving his boots in the ring following a Game Changer Wrestling match, then joining fellow wrestlers Ben Bishop, Jack Vaughn, and Tommy Invincible in a post-match embrace at Fight Factory Wrestling’s The War on the Shore 3 – a moment widely compared by observers to the 1996 “Curtain Call” incident in WWE.

Dreamer, an Extreme Championship Wrestling veteran who is also scheduled to compete at Indypendence Day, told Fox News Digital that Holliday had earned the opportunity through sustained effort on the independent scene. “He’s really worked hard on every indie to try to get his name out there and if he gets that opportunity, he’ll have to work even harder,” Dreamer said. He was equally direct about Elijah, describing the TNA performer as physically imposing, musically creative, and highly disciplined in his preparation.

With Indypendence Day approaching, the Holliday-Elijah match carries added weight as what may be one of Holliday’s final independent appearances if the WWE reports prove accurate. Dreamer framed the event as a window for fans: “It’s another way to see somebody before you can’t see them anymore, because then they’re under a whole other regime if that is the case.”
