CAF to Inspect Kenya Early Ahead of AFCON 2027

CAF officials will visit Kenya earlier than scheduled to inspect preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, increasing pressure on the country to fast-track key infrastructure projects. The inspection, confirmed this week, will focus on stadium upgrades, training facilities and overall readiness as Kenya co-hosts the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania.
A government sports official said the early visit is meant to keep hosts on track. “CAF wants to see tangible progress, not promises,” the official noted. “This visit will help identify gaps early.”
Concerns have been raised over timelines at major venues, prompting authorities to accelerate renovations. “We welcome the inspection,” Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said. “It keeps everyone accountable and aligned with CAF standards.”
A football analyst believes the move is timely. “Early checks reduce last-minute panic,” he said. “Kenya must show clear momentum.”
AFCON 2027 will be the first tournament jointly hosted by three East African nations, making Kenya’s preparedness critical to the project’s success.
