CAF Sets AFCON 2027 Dates: June 19 to July 17 Across East Africa

East Africa gets its moment. June 19 to July 17, 2027 — those are the dates for the Africa Cup of Nations across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. CAF got the green light from the FIFA Council in Vancouver this week.

Three hosts. First time that’s ever happened at an AFCON. And the first time East Africa holds it since Ethiopia in 1976. Half a century.

Forty-eight teams, twelve groups of four, top two from each going through. Qualifying windows open in September 2026. The draw for qualifiers is May 19. Which host stages the final — still to be decided.

CAF reckons the tournament will reach 400 million people across the region.
