CAF inspects AFCON 2027 venues in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda amid hosting delay talk

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a technical inspection of key stadiums and training facilities in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda this week as part of preparations for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2027, despite swirling reports the tournament may be postponed. The visits, running through Feb. 17, aim to assess infrastructure, pitch quality, safety and readiness ahead of the continental showpiece.

CAF’s inspection team began work in Dar es Salaam before moving on to major venues across the three co-hosts. “These inspections are about setting world-class standards on and off the pitch,” a CAF official said, stressing the importance of infrastructure benchmarks.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe and the CAF Executive Committee are also scheduled to visit Tanzania on Feb. 13 to review progress. Local leaders in Nairobi have welcomed the scrutiny, seeing it as vital to securing smooth delivery of AFCON 2027
