Angels outfielder Jo Adell robs three home runs in single game against Mariners
Los Angeles Angels right fielder Jo Adell made three highlight-reel catches to deny home runs to Seattle Mariners batters during a 9-5 loss at T-Mobile Park on August 22, 2024.[1][2]
The first robbery came in the bottom of the first inning when Adell leaped against the left-field wall to snag a 109.9 mph fly ball off the bat of Cal Raleigh, projected by Statcast to travel 380 feet for a home run.[3][4]
In the sixth inning, Adell tracked down a 110.3 mph line drive from Julio Rodríguez in center field, reaching over the wall for the catch on what Statcast deemed a home run.[3][4] Adell’s third denial occurred in the eighth inning on a drive by Dylan Moore.[3]
The performance marked the first time in Statcast history (since 2015) that an outfielder robbed three home runs in a single game.[1][2] Adell, a 25-year-old former first-round draft pick (10th overall, 2017) who has spent his entire MLB career with the Angels, finished the game 0-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.[5]
The Angels entered the game with a 57-70 record, while the Mariners improved to 64-62 with the win in the series opener.[1][6] T-Mobile Park, home of the Mariners since 1999, features a retractable roof and is known for its challenging dimensions in left field.[7]
