Abud Omar speaks out on chaos inside Harambee Stars camp

Kenya international Abud Omar has lifted the lid on internal problems within the Harambee Stars, revealing how poor discipline and weak leadership led to a confrontation with teammate Eric Johana during a national team camp. The defender shared his account as questions continue to surround the team’s off-field management.

Omar said unresolved tensions created a volatile atmosphere in camp. “When there is no clear authority, small disagreements grow very fast,” he explained. “That’s what happened.”

He acknowledged exchanging words with Johana during training but stressed that the issue was settled. “We talked it through later,” Omar said. “There are no personal issues between us. The focus should always be the team.”

The experienced defender warned that such incidents hurt performance on the pitch. “Discipline is non-negotiable at this level,” he added. “If we want to compete, everyone must be accountable.”

Omar’s comments have sparked renewed debate over professionalism within the national team, as Kenya looks to restore stability ahead of upcoming international competitions.
